1942 BPL ration cards of staffs cancelled

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As many as 1942 BPL ration cards of government servants were cancelled out of the 24,000 BPL cards which were availed in violation of norms. The deadline for returning the BPL ration cards in possession of government employees ended on Tuesday. A total of 22,508 government servants who  possessed BPL cards had returned the cards and got APL cards. The maximum number of government servants who surrendered the BPL cards was in Kozhikode district (3186). The figures in other districts are as follows: Thiruvananthapuram (2123), Kollam (2705), Alappuzha (2785), Pathanamthitta (749), Kottayam (1995), Ernakulam (1501), Thrissur (1570), Palakkad (502), Malappuram (1758), Wayanad (462), Kannur (1877) and Kasargod (729). The lowest number was in Idukki district (416).
