While some were admired for their comic roles, others were adored for their romantic characters. Do you know there’s one actor who made his debut in a serious role and saw his career take a U-turn in 1989? After playing many serious or negative characters initially, he decided to opt for comedic roles. He made his debut with the film Daag in 1973 and has worked in over 300 films, including Hindi and Urdu, while also writing dialogues for more than 250 Indian films. Can you guess the actor? He is none other than the iconic Kader Khan. A man of many talents, he was an actor, scriptwriter, and even a producer. Did you know that Kader Khan’s family once faced a financial crisis? Today, let’s take a look at the struggle and journey of this successful actor.
According to reports, Kader Khan experienced several ups and downs during his childhood. The actor was born in Kabul, Afghanistan. After shifting from Afghanistan to Mumbai, his family faced economic difficulties. Reports suggest that this financial instability caused tension between Kader Khan’s parents, leading to daily fights. Eventually, they divorced, and Kader’s mother was forcefully remarried by her relatives.
Kader Khan had to face a lot of struggle after his mother’s second marriage. As per reports, his stepfather mistreated him and often sent him on 10-kilometre walks to earn money. He was reportedly forced by him to beg outside mosques.
Reports also claim that Kader Khan’s family could only afford to eat three days a week, leaving them hungry for the rest. Once frustrated by the chaos, a young Khan burned his books. His mother, however, reprimanded him harshly and urged him to study hard to make a name for himself.
This advice stuck with Kader Khan. After his mother passed away, the actor didn’t give up and worked hard to make a name for himself. After completing his graduation, he even taught in college. Once while performing in a play, comedian Agha noticed his talent and recommended him to actor Dilip Kumar. Impressed by Kader Khan’s acting, Dilip Kumar immediately signed him for his next films, Sagina and Bairaag, this marked the beginning of Kader Khan’s Bollywood career.
Kader Khan continued acting in numerous films until 2015. He passed away in 2018 due to supranuclear palsy, a degenerative disease.
