2 sanitary workers held for theatre staffs murder

Two sanitary workers were arrested in connection with the murder of a 65-year-old sweeper in a cinema theatre at MGR Nagar on Saturday. Police said the two sanitary workers were angry with Parvathy after she pulled them up for not doing their work properly.

Police said during investigations with theatre employees, they found that Yobu (29) and Raja (37) from Saidapet were the ones behind the murder. The duo were arrested near Saidapet railway station. Upon interrogations, they confessed to murdering Parvathy, police said, adding that the woman had issued a warning to Raja. Police said Parvathy had also warned Yobu, through whom Raja had got the job.

Police said that Yobu attacked her with clubs when she was cleaning women’s toilet on Wednesday, killing her on the spot.

As there was a movie going on, he hid the body in a toilet. Police said Yobu then called Raja and at night, they put the body in a gunny bag and threw it in the water tank located on the top floor of the theatre.
