26/11 attack suspect hearing cancelled
Rana was accused along with Headley in a 12-count superseding indictment for plotting the 26/11 attacks.

Chicago: The hearing of Tahawwur Hussain Rana, the Pakistani-Canadian terror suspect accused of involvement in the Mumbai attacks, was cancelled though his trial is set for February next year.

"The hearing was indeed cancelled," Kim Nerheim, spokesperson for the US Attorney's Office told PTI. The hearing was to take place on Monday.

"No alternate date has been set for another hearing," she added.

The reason for cancellation of the hearing is not immediately known.

Rana's trial day set for February 14 next year remains on track and numerous closed hearings related to Classified Information Procedures Act are taking place.

The trial will be held before US District Court Judge Harry D Leinenweber.

While his childhood friend and LeT terrorist David Headley pleaded guilty to plotting the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai, Rana, a Chicago businessman, has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Rana was indicted by a federal grand jury on February 15 this year.

Rana, 49, was accused along with Headley in a 12-count superseding indictment for plotting the 26/11 attacks and providing material support to LeT to carry out the attack that killed 166 people, including six Americans.

Rana is also accused of plotting an attack on Jyllands-Posten, a Danish newspaper, which published controversial cartoons of Prophet Muhammad.
