29 bar girls arrested in Mumbai

Mumbai: Police raided a dance bar here in the wee hours today and arrested 29 bar girls alongwith the joint's manager and two others for allegedly running a prostitution racket.

A raid was conducted at around 0100 hrs IST on Hotel Tarana in suburban Chembur after getting a tip-off that it had become a prostitution hub, police sources said.

Besides the bar girls, police arrested hotel's manager Shrikant Sunder Shetty and two waiters, Mevalal Ramker Yadav (38) and Parmesh Shankar Pujari (26) under Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act.

The bar owners Suresh Pande and Rajan Shetty alongwith four other persons are absconding.
