JEYPORE: Ahead of the panchayat polls, Boipariguda Police on Thursday arrested three tribals of Durua community in Ramagiri forest for alleged links with the Maoists. Reports said the police recovered three country-made guns and explosive-making materials including live wires at Malipadar village during a combing operation. Six persons were detained in this connection.The police later arrested three including a priest of Gupteswar Temple, Sitram Durua. The other two have been identified as Jagannath Durua and Nukul Durua.It is for the first time that people of Durua tribes have been arrested for supporting the Maoists. Koraput DIG S Priyadarsi told mediapersons that massive operation is on in the sensitive Boipariguda, Lamtaput, Nandapur, Pottangi, Narayanpatna, Bandhugam and Laxmipur areas to deal with any subversive activities by Maoists during the election.Elections will be held at nine Zilla Parishad zones in Jeypore, Kundura, Dasmantpur, Bandhguam, Potangi and Borrigumma blocks on Saturday. About 1,69,000 voters would cast their votes at 559 booths in 51 panchayats on the day. Koraput Collector SR Yadav and SP A kumar reviewed poll preparation.
