The National Film Development Corporation has sent scripts of six Indian writers to the Venice International Film Festival.
NFDC's Film Bazaar project is trying to bridge the gap between the Indian film industry and the international film fraternity. Film Bazaar serves as a platform for the filmmakers to reach out to the world markets and audiences.
Managing Director, NFDC, Nina Lath Gupta said "The scripts that will be promoted at VIFF, which will conclude on September 10, are 'Toxic City' (Aliya Curmally),
'Girls' (Megha Ramaswamy), 'Dabba' (Ritesh Batra), 'Sebastian Wants to Remember' (Vasant Nath), 'Dear Mira' (Deepti Datt), and 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha' (Sharat Katariya)."
Film Bazaar has supported various critically acclaimed films such as 'I Am Kalam', Onir's 'I Am', Dibakar Banerjee's 'Love Sex Aur Dhokha' and Anurag Kashyap's 'That Girl In Yellow Boots'.
Gupta further added,"Six filmmakers, Kashyap, Banerjee, Anusha Rizvi, Laxmikant Shetgaonkar, Sekhar Kammula and Haobam Paban Kumar were promoted in Cannes 2011."
NFDC has invited new entries for the fifth season of Film Bazaar, which has two separate segments, the Co-production Market and Work in Progress Lab.
"Film Bazaar also proposes to set up digital theaters this year. In addition, there will be a new initiative to introduce the latest, unseen films in Indian cinema through market presentations," added Gupta.(With additional information from PTI)
