Mumbai: Akmal Hashmi, a suspected Laskhar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorist, was brought to Mumbai today in connection with the July 11 serial blasts probe, police said.
He was arrested in Jammu and Kashmir last week. "Hashmi will be interrogated by an Anti-Terrorism Squad to ascertain whether he is involved in the blasts," said ATS Chief K P Raghuvanshi.
A decision on whether Hashmi would be booked in the case or any other legal action initiated against him would be taken after his interrogation.
Akmal, while being held by the Army in Jammu and Kashmir, allegedly said that he knew about a LeT plan to carrying out serial blasts in sub-urban trains in Mumbai on July 11.
The LeT had despatched 17 operatives to Mumbai to execute the plan and 16 of them returned to the Valley after carrying out the blasts, Hashmi reportedly told his interrogators.
