In the olden days, when married couples went through periods of turbulence, elders in the family would advise them to have a baby, which they believed would help solve their problems.
“But we believe that to conceive a baby, the couple should first of all have a good marriage.
They should first work on the husband- wife relationship,” says Vedic research scholar Tatwamasi Dixit, who recently released a set of five CDs in association with the Ojas Foundation, as part of a pregnancy series.
Each CD has a set of Vedic chants and mantras that Dixit believes will help women in the process of pregnancy.
“There is also guided meditation with instructions in the CD,” says Dixit.
He explains that he has culled out relevant mantras from the Vedas and Upanishads that are specific to pregnancy.
The first CD Enrich Couple Bond helps young couples in facing their challenge of building and maintaining an equitable relationship, explains Dixit.
The second CD Get Pregnant, focuses on removing any blocks that come in the way of a couple trying to conceive.
“There is a lot of stress from today’s lifestyle and since many couples choose to wait for a few years before having a baby, there is also pressure from the family to have a baby soon,” says Dixit.
“Before anyone is physically prepared for pregnancy, they need to be emotionally and spiritually prepared,” he says. This is where the concept of parenting is formed in its early stages.
“Psychic fertilisation is the first stage of pregnancy. One has to first conceive mentally,” explains Dixit. Since Dixit believes that according to Vedas, babies are conscious within the womb and the fundamental experiences of the mother are transferred to the baby through emotional connect, his third CD focuses on prenatal learning.
“It focuses on how you can translate life values and skill sets to the baby. It’s about preparing the baby for life after he comes out of the womb,” says Dixit.
Ease your Delivery, the fourth in the series, helps in preparing the mother for delivery. “She is trained to harness her inner energy.
There is a meditation in this CD where she interacts with the baby,” explains Dixit, but cautions that it should only be practised after the 34th week of pregnancy.
In the final CD Nurture the New Born, Dixit has compiled mantras that can help design an intelligent baby.
He says, “Babies have the ability to absorb knowledge without resistance in their early stages. You can architect the baby’s mind.
” And since Vedas operate at a level very much like music does, Dixit insists that knowledge of Sanskrit and the shlokas are not a prerequisite to be able to enjoy and comprehend the CD.
“Vedas work at a sound vibration level,” he explains. Priced at Rs 295 per CD, they are avai lable at http://www.ojasfoundation. com/
