The next cycle of the Unique Identification system (UID) will begin shortly and cover the entire state, announced Nandan Nilekani on Tuesday.
The chairperson of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) was in the city to discuss the second phase of the roll-out of Aadhaar cards with chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy.
“Any corrections in personal details can be registered at permanent update centres,” said Nilekani.
At present, over 5 crore people have been registered for the UID scheme in the state which constitutes a fourth of the nation-wide registrations.
“Our aim is to register around 40 crore people across the country in the second phase.

32 crore Aadhaar letters have been delivered by the UIDAI.
The plan is to cover the entire population in coordination with various state registries including banks,” he said at a press conference.
Plans to channelise various social services on the basis of the Aadhar cards numbers were discussed by the UIDAI chairperson and the state government.
The scheme to deliver MGNREGS wages through micro-ATMs, which was implemented on a pilot scale in Jharkhand, is also likely to be implemented in AP in the upcoming phase.
