Abandoned baby rescued

ROURKELA: An abandoned newborn baby was rescued from the campus of Rourkela Government Hospital on Saturday. He was found abandoned in an isolated area on the hospital premises in the wee hours.The hospital’s in-charge Chief Medical Officer Subash Kabi said the newborn,  wrapped in a cloth, was found lying in the backyard of a partially-constructed building. It was spotted by a mason Anil Singh.Kabi said the baby was premature and abandoned three to four hours after birth. The infant is recuperating in the incubator of the hospital. Child Welfare Committee member Abdul Kalam Azad said the CWC had taken custody of the baby and after treatment would take necessary measures to rehabilitate him.
