The year 2014 which has started with a spate of massive discounts on almost all the major airlines promises to be a year full of great holidays. But where to go ... not Munnar ,Goa, Manali again... been there, done that and got all the T-shirts.
2014 is the year to travel that extra mile, to go to a new place, to bring back something new to talk about and to say yes!
I broke the mould and I'm proud of it.

Gokarn
Go Goa Gokarn... that's the new mantra if you want to not meet the same people you meet in your street, office, metro or market. Yes, all of us know the feeling, when we decide to head to Goa it seems half the people we know have had the same idea at the same time. But that can change if you go the extra mile, from Goa to Gokarn. The Om beach is the highlight of Gokarn but there are three wonderful other beaches here. Kudle is closest, just a 15 minute walk away, then Paradise beach and Half-Moon beach. Goa is just 5 hours away.

Wayanad
Kerala is magical and a popular destination for all and Kerala has many hidden treasures but people generally tend to stick to the same route and do the same things. Varkala, Kovalam, Backwaters and Munnar. Been there done that, now it's time to head to head on and add the extra mile, Verdant Wayanad Waiting. Wayanad is actually a district in Northern Kerala and is covered with many hill stations. You can stay in any of these villages Kalpetta, Kattikkulam, Lakkidi, Manjoora, Meppady, Padinharathara, Padivayal, with Sulthan Bathery and Vythiri probably being the most famous and keeping in mind the offbeat location how about a offbeat arrangement to put up your feet. Try a home stay option.

Bandhavgarh
The best thing about Ranthambore is its location, bang on the golden triangle, it is easy to get to from Delhi or Agra or Jaipur, this has made it over crowded and the canter safaris are not the best way to catch a Tiger in the wild. Bandhavgarh National park in Madhya Pradesh has probably the best tiger sighting ratio in India at the moment. It has superb options for stay. The Charn Ganga River that starts from the feet of the Vishnu idol while He is lying on the Sheesh Nag makes for a beautiful sight and an exciting park safari. Bandhavgarh was once the private property and personal hunting grounds of the Maharaja of Rewa and it was here that the famous white tiger Mohan was found. All the white tiger around the world are progeny of this very animal.

Spiti
If going to Ladhak makes you feel like an idiot or three, then in 2014 make a bee line for the truly awesome Spiti valley. Spiti is crowned will the beautiful Moon lake Chandertaal. This trans Himalayan region is a high altitude cold desert and just like Ladhak it too has a unique Indo-Tibetan culture. There is a series of wonderful monasteries to check out and some of the aare into out of this world locations with stunning views all around. Kaza, Komik, Dhankar and Tabo will take your breath away both literally and visually. The highlight of Spiti is the Kye Monastery. It looks like a huge pile of Jenga blocks placed on a mountain and at any time they could come toppling down except they have not for more than a 1000 years. Kaza has many medium to budget accommodation options including Spiti Valley Camp Retreat (Kaza), Parasol Retreat and Banjara Retreat.
