HYDERABAD: Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Thursday agreed to extend the upper age concession of five years granted to candidates belonging to SC, STs for direct recruitment above the age limit prescribed in the state and subordinate service rules/special rules. The upper age concession will be extended for a further period of five years with effect from May 31.The state government has been providing age concession in direct recruitment for SC,ST candidates where the upper age limit is raised by five years from time to time to ensure their proper representation in the services.As per norms, the lower age limit of 18 years and an upper age limit of 33 years have been prescribed for direct recruitment. Thus, the age concession of five years above the upper age limit of 33 years is allowed for SC, ST and BC candidates and 10 years for physically challenged persons. However, the ceiling of the upper age limit including all concessions to candidates belonging to SC,ST is 45 years and 40 years for BC candidates.
