Mumbai: A government doctor posted at the international airport here was arrested on Tuesday by CBI for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 for issuing vaccination certificate to a passenger.
Wahid Mirza, attached to Airport Health Organisation under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and his driver Mohammed Javed Ansari were trapped in Mumbai, a senior CBI official said.
"The accused had sought bribe for issuing certificate of vaccination of yellow fever which is mandatory for travelling to South Africa," the official said.
The CBI's anti-corruption wing, after receiving a complaint, laid a trap at the airport and nabbed the duo accepting bribe in the doctor's car, he added.
