HYDERABAD: The city’s Anna Hazare fans are likely to get a booster dose of enthusiasm with the activist and Arvind Kejriwal slated to visit Hyderabad on Monday.The visit falls just a day before the government is scheduled to table the Lokpal bill in Parliament. While the activist is scheduled to address a public meeting at Nizam College grounds on Monday, the organisers of the event have so far not pencilled in any interaction for the activist with the city’s youth.Anna’s six-hour visit is packed, said Prasad Gollanapalli, managing trustee of the Gandhi King Foundation (KGF).He will touch down at the Shamshabad Airport at 12.30 pm Monday, from where he will be driven to Bapu Ghat near Langar Houz for a press conference.The meeting at Nizam College grounds is scheduled for 3-5 pm, after which he will be flown back to Delhi.The organisers remained tight-lipped, citing security reasons, about the activist’s accommodation during his stay in the city. Prasad said, “We did want an interaction between Anna and the youth of this city. But his schedule is packed.”Hyderabad’s participation in the Anna Hazare movement has been limited to dainty waving of candles by a gaggle at Necklace Road when the Gandhian sat on his fast in New Delhi back in August.A rally by India Against Corruption’s Hyderabad chapter on Dec. 11 attracted only a dozen people or so. Prasad said Anna’s visist is likely to change that.He said Hyderabad’s youth have only seen one dimension of the movement and it was time to see the larger picture.“Anna’s new campaign will be bigger than the earlier one, and will focus on issues other than corruption,” he said.
