PARADIP: Tension prevailed at Dhinkia on Monday after anti-Posco workers hurled bombs at some labourers of Paribahan, a contract agency, who were working on a road project. The road is a part of the proposed Posco project.Early on Monday morning, the labourers gathered at the construction site to start the road work which was opposed by anti-Posco activists led by Abhay Sahu.This led to a scuffle in which 15 persons from both the groups were injured. Though the labourers managed to drive away the activists from the spot, the latter returned in the noon and reportedly hurled bombs at them.Sources said the proposed road is planned to be laid from Paradip oil refinery to the Posco site and the foundation for this was laid on August 21. The work could not proceed due to resistance from the anti-Posco activists.Though SP S Debdatta Singh admitted to the clash between the two groups, he said no complaint had been filed by anyone in this regard.“The place of violence is 4 km from Dhinkia and nearly eight bombs were hurled,” he said.Fake DocumentsUnder the direction of the RDC (central), the district administration has issued a notice against four pro-Posco villagers who are also members of Dadibamanjew Gramya Forest Committee of Nuagaon panchayat for submitting fake documents for compensation towards demolition of prawn gheris. An amount of Rs 44 lakh was paid to the four persons as compensation.They have been identified as Lalit Samantray, Raghu Mantry, Nandakishore Swain and Rasmiranjan Swain of Nuagaon panchayat. Sources said they produced fake documents before the administration to claim ownership over prawn gheris which officials wanted to demolish. However, the officials concerned disbursed the compensation without cross checking the land documents.The fraud was detected during screening of the documents recently.
