Indian Army chief Gen Bikram Singh called on Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra on Saturday and discussed the situation on the Line of Control (LoC) and the international border in the state.
"Accompanied by the northern army commander Lt Gen Sanjiv Chachra, Gen Bikram Singh today called on Governor NN Vohra in Srinagar at the Raj Bhavan," an army statement said.
"Gen Singh briefed the governor about the security scenario, incidence of ceasefire violations along the international border and the LoC and the army's preparedness to deal with any emerging situation," the statement said.
Meanwhile, the army said Pakistan has violated the bilateral ceasefire agreement twice this year - in Krishna-Ghati-Mendhar sector in Poonch district on January 13 and Saturday.
A group of three-four guerrillas attempted to infiltrate into India, but a defence spokesman said the infiltration bid was foiled by alert troops of the Indian Army.
