Guwahati: Assam Government has extended financial assistance of Rs 5 crore for the relief of flood-hit people of Jammu and Kashmir, spokesman of the Chief Minister Office (CMO) said.
Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Wednesday directed officials that Rs five crore be given from the state government for the people affected by unprecedented flood in the northern state, the spokesman said.
Meanwhile, Assam's Additional Director General of Police (Vigilance and Anti Corruption) Rajkumar Chandranathan has reached Jammu and Kashmir to render assistance to the people of Assam stranded in that state, the spokesman said.
Chandranathan, who would be camping at Srinagar, has informed the state government here that there was no report of casualty of people from Assam so far, he said.
A Control Room has been set up by the police to help people whose relatives are stranded in Jammu and Kashmir floods. The phone numbers of the Control Room are

The Control Room has received enquiries from family members of 121 personnel of various Government agencies working in J&K and also from family members of 46 tourists who are stranded there, the spokesman said.
