Assembly polls: Vote count tomorrow
The votes cast in the Assembly elections and the by-polls in Rae Bareli will be counted on Thursday.

New Delhi: The votes cast in the Assembly elections in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam and Pondicherry and Rae Bareli Lok Sabha by-election will be counted on Thursday.

The counting process will begin at 0800 hrs (IST) and is expected to be completed in four hours. Electronic Voting Machines have been deployed for the purpose.

The counting of votes will be done in hundreds of centres, Election Commission sources said.

The AIADMK-led front is facing a tough fight from the DMK-led front in Tamil Nadu where exit polls have predicted a clear victory for Karunanidhi-led coalition.

Pollsters have predicted a clear majority for the Left-led Front in West Bengal and Kerala while Assam is expected to throw up a fractured verdict with the ruling Congress likely to fall short of a majority.

Exit polls also showed that the Congress is likely to retain power in the Union Territory of Pondicherry.

The outcome of Rae Bareli Lok Sabha by-poll, from where Congress President Sonia Gandhi contested, appears to be a foregone conclusion with the Congress leader expected to have a cakewalk.

The Election Commission has created a 'Special Home Page' on its website for counting and would give news flashes with round-wise details of trend, they said.

A new feature, 'Dynamic Maps', based navigation of all five states, would be available on the website giving the details of trend of votes and final results constituency-wise, they said.

The commission would provide constituency-wise details of the results on its website.

These would be available in English, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Bangla languages, they added.
