As the second phase of odd-even scheme kicked off on Friday, auto drivers across Delhi are once again fleecing customers even as Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has promised action against app-based taxi service providers against surge pricing.
A sting operation by CNN-News18 caught auto drivers charging exorbitant amount for even a small distance from commuters.
Auto drivers are heard charging double the normal fare and are also refusing to ply by meter.
Delhi Chief Minister had pulled up cab aggregators Ola and Uber on Monday for their surge pricing during peak hours after which they suspended their scheme. Kejriwal on Wednesday tweeted that he was not against the cab aggregators but wanted them to follow the law and not overcharge.

Irrespective of the odd-even scheme, Delhi auto drivers have a history of fleecing passengers on a regular basis. Kejriwal acted against the cab aggregators as they were overcharging the passengers but the Aam Aadmi Party government is yet to tame the auto drivers.
Under the odd-even scheme, private four wheelers with odd numbers can play on odd dates while even numbered vehicles are allowed on even days. The move has led to decongestion on roads and the Kejriwal government has claimed that the scheme will also help in curbing pollution.
