NEW DELHI: After several rounds of discussions with Congress leaders from all the three regions of Andhra Pradesh on the issue of a separate Telangana state, Union health and family welfare minister and incharge of party affairs in the State Ghulam Nabi Azad on Friday submitted a detailed report to Congress president Sonia Gandhi.Amidst mounting pressure on the Congress high command for an early decision on the Telangana issue, the core committee of the Congress started deliberations on Azad’s report.This is for the first time that Sonia Gandhi has attended the core committee meeting after she returned from abroad.According to sources, Azad is understood to have suggested a solution to the burning issue.Sources said that Azad verbally reported on the situation in the State on the ground level.Following Azad’s briefing, the core committee discussed the pros and cons of bifurcation of the state.A solution will take some more time to come as it has to be an inclusive solution, according to sources.There are certain fears and misgivings about the bifurcation of the State within the Telangana region and more so from outside - the other two regions of Rayalaseema and Telangana.Many Congress leaders from all the regions in the State, who are camping in Delhi with their firmly stated positions, are hopeful of a favourable report.Azad completed the consultation process with party leaders from the three regions on Wednesday.TDP, MIM Waiting for Cong Stand: PCMeanwhile, Union home minister P Chidambaram, earlier in the day, said one important stage of the consultation appears to be over on Friday.“I hope that the other parties will make up their mind quickly as I appealed in Parliament to enable me to call an all-party meeting.Chidambaram said four political parties of Andhra Pradesh have not taken their decision on the issue of Telangana.He said that the Congress would take a decision after Azad submitted his report.“TDP and MIM are waiting to see what the decision of the Congress party’s would be.“The YSR Congress has not indicated its mind either.I am trying to hasten the process as much as I can but as you know these are matters concerning political parties and only so much one can do from the government,” he added.
