Doctors at AIIMS say that baby Falak's chances of survival have severely gone down.

New Delhi: Two-year-old Baby Falak, who was admitted to AIIMS with severe injuries and is battling for life, continues to be in critical condition. Doctors at AIIMS said that the toddler is suffering from meningitis.

"Falak is suffering from meningitis. Future course of treatment depends on how the baby responds to the treatment. Her chances of survival have severely gone down," Sumit Sinha, Neurosurgeon, AIIMS said.

He said that infection remains a major concern. "We are happy that the neurological status remains the same as yesterday," he said.

Doctor MC Mishra said that there is Infection in lungs and brain. "Antibiotics are being given to baby Falak. We will known if she is responding to the medicines in next 72 hrs to 5 days."

The two-year-old battered girl admitted at AIIMS underwent another life-saving surgery on Monday even as police spread the net to locate a man who 'adopted' the baby and gave her to a teenaged girl for upkeep.

Police also questioned a woman who got the baby from her biological mother and later handed her over to Rajkumar alias Dilshad (28), who left the girl with his minor girlfriend before heading to Mumbai for the treatment of his children.

Falak was admitted to AIIMS with severe injuries and is battling for life after a teenaged girl, who was looking after her after Rajkumar left the girl with her, got her admitted.

Though investigators traced him to his in-laws' house, Rajkumar managed to slipped out of police net in Mumbai after his friends tipped him off.
