MYSORE: Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) Vice Chancellor Dr K S Rangappa requested government to ban the use of mobile phones in schools and colleges. He said that when teachers conduct classes, students are increasingly involved in sending messages, apart from concentrating on the lessons.He was speaking after the inauguration of one-day special lecture on ‘how to prepare for exams’ in city on Sunday.The event was jointly organised by Gyan Vani FM Channel and Psychology Department of KSOU.“Due to mobile phones , students are losing concentration.Most of them are misusing the phone to copy in e x a m s a n d m a n y other unw a n t e d things,” he said, adding that Indian children have good intelligence quotient, but there is lack of dedication among them.PUC and SSLC exams are important stage in life that change the direction of life, he asked students to excel in the exams.“Bureaucrats can’t build the country, it can only be done by educated youngsters,” he added.Dr Rangappa rued that most of the teachers, instead of doing their duty, were directing the students to go for google to clear their doubts.He asked teachers to show gratitude for the salary they get, and teach children accordingly.
