BANGALORE: Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike  (BBMP),  which has already initiated the facility to obtain birth/death certificates online at its centres, is planning to extend the facility to BangaloreOne centres soon.BBMP introduced online birth/death certificate registration in January, 2010. For such online applications, BBMP issued a free copy of a digitally-signed certificate. Currently, there are 48 registration centres in the city inclusive of the 37 Member of Health (MOH) offices, six BBMP referral hospitals and five major government hospitals. Now, the same facility will be made available at all the BangaloreOne centres.According to BBMP Joint Director (Statistics)  B Shankarappa, there are around 70 BangaloreOne Centres in Bangalore. At present, BBMP is preparing a draft copy of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BangaloreOne. “We are holding a meeting with the E-governance department officials and a final decision will be taken soon,” he said.Once the department  completes the process of uploading the data online,  consumers can get the required birth or death certificates multiple times, he said and added that the document would contain digital signatures negating   the need for officers’ signature for authenticity.
