Bhanwari case: Maderna in custody till Dec 9

New Delhi: Sacked Rajasthan minister Mahipal Singh Maderna and Parasram Bishnoi were remanded to police custody till December 9 by a Jodhpur court on Saturday in the Bhanwari Devi case.

Mahipal Maderna and Congress MLA Malkhan Singh's brother Parasram Bishnoi were arrested in Jodhpur on Friday, after the CBI filed a chargesheet against three other accused.

CBI sources have told CNN-IBN that Maderna has been arrested on charges of abduction and murder based on the complaint filed by Bhanwari's husband.

The sources further said that they had important evidence to that Bhanwari was murdered on the directions of Maderna, adding that the arrest would help in finding out the body of the missing nurse.

Amar Chand had earlier alleged that Bhanwari Devi was abducted at the behest of Maderna.

A CD allegedly showing Maderna in compromising position with the 36-year-old nurse, had come to light after which she went missing from Bilara on September 1.

The CBI forensic teams had on Thursday collected samples from some lime klins from Bilara and Pipara areas of Rajasthan, where Bhanwari Devi's body was allegedly disposed of.

Earlier on Friday, the CBI had chargesheeted three persons, Sohan Lal, Shahabuddin and Baldev Ram, in the case.
