THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Karnataka Governor H R Bharadwaj was sworn in as the Governor of the state on Monday, with additional charge. Acting Chief Justice Manjulla Chellur of the Kerala High Court administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new incumbent, at a simple ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan on Monday evening. The swearing-in was necessitated as the reigning Governor M O H Farooq had gone on long leave to avail of treatment for renal ailment and attendant health problems at Chennai. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Speaker G Karthikeyan, Mayor K Chandrika, ministers K B Ganesh Kumar, V S Sivakumar and A P Anil Kumar, Chief Secretary Dr P Prabhakaran, DGP Jacob Punnoose, General Administration Department secretary K Jyothilal, Law Secretary Ramaraja Premaprasad and others attended the swearing-in ceremony.Earlier in the day, Bharadwaj and wife Prafulatha were accorded a rousing reception at the airport under the leadership of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
