Kolkata: It's raining jobs at IIM campuses across the country - big banks are back for summer placements and hedge funds have made their debut.
Students of the IIMs are a happy lot receiving summer internships that have been the best after the slowdown. Now they hope that this trend continues for the final placements as well.
At the IIM campus in Kolkata, 200 companies were in attendance on the first day of placements and as many as 215 internship offers were up for grabs in slot zero.
Gaurav Teltia, a first year student at IIM Kolkata received a first of its kind offer - to work at the desk of the Chief Investing Officer at JP Morgan.
And the boom is not limited to Kolkata alone. At IIM Bangalore too, big guns like Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs are hiring again. Hedge funds have also made their debut in the I-T city.
Though IIMs don't make the figures public, the students could earn anywhere between Rs 10-12 lakh during the summer internships.
