Guna: Millions of fans of Bollywood diva Anushka Sharma and Team India captain Virat Kohli, might still be feeling awestruck over the dream wedding of the two superstars in Italy but a Bharatiya Janata Party lawmaker from Madhya Pradesh feels that the cricketer lacks nationalism so he opted for an offshore destination for his marriage.
Addressing a programme on PM Narendra Modi’s Skill India campaign in Guna, the local Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Pannalal Shakya referring to the lavish wedding of Anushka Sharma-Virat Kohli in Italy said that he (Kohli) earned fame and money in India and chose to spend billions on his marriage outside the country.
“This is a country which witnessed the marriage of Lord Rama,Lord Krishna, Vikramaditya and Yudhisthir but he did not find a suitable place to tie the knot and went abroad,” Shakya went on to add.
“This vindicates that Bharat Bhumi does not mean anything to him and this is not rashtra-bhakti or deshbhakti,” quipped the MLA.
“Italy ke nachne-gaane wale crorepati ban gaye aur tum desh ki punji bahar le ja rahe ho,” said the upset MLA.
Keeping the fans and media guessing about their wedding plans, Kohli and Anushka Sharma had slipped to Italy with family members in the second week of December. They tied the nuptial knot in a private function in Tuscany, Italy on Dec 11.
The MLA’s utterances come days ahead when the newly-wed couple are scheduled to host grand reception in New Delhi on Dec 21.
