BJP taken aback by Delhi election exit poll results, says they can't predict results
Birla says, "We will accept the verdict of the people. We want a majority government. We will try to win the trust of the people."

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party seemed to have been taken aback by the exit polls predictions of Delhi Assembly elections which have predicted a massive victory of the Aam Aadmi Party. Kota MP Om Birla, who was in-charge of the high profile Krishna Nagar constituency, says, "It is difficult to predict final results through exit polls."

BJP chief ministerial candidate Dr Kiran Bedi is contesting from Krishna Nagar constituency which has been a stronghold of the party. The seat in East Delhi has been represented by Union Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan from 1993-2013.

On the question if poll results didn't favour the BJP, Birla says, "We will accept the verdict of the people. We want a majority government. We will try to win the trust of the people."

Delhi witnessed highest ever voting percentage in the February 7 elections with 67.14 per cent of the electorate voters exercising their franchise.

Birla says, "It shows people's faith in democracy. I wish there was cent per cent voting."

In a shift from tradition, the BJP named its chief ministerial candidate and fought elections under Bedi's name as against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's name.

When asked if the party would still follow it in the upcoming elections, Birla says, "The Central leadership will take the final decision on this."

BJP and AAP were involved in a fierce battle to win majority in the 70-member Delhi Assembly. The results will be declared on February 10.
