The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will meet the Election Commission (EC) on Monday to complain against the "hate and sensational speeches" being delivered by Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will meet the Election Commission (EC) on Monday to complain against the "hate and sensational speeches" being delivered by Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi.

"BJP will meet the EC on October 28 (Monday) at 11.30 am regarding hate and sensational speeches of Rahul Gandhi to spread communal hatred in society," said BJP vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.

The party had on Friday written a letter to the EC saying Rahul Gandhi had violated the model code of conduct ahead of assembly polls.

The party complained that Rahul Gandhi had accused the party of stoking communal riots in Muzaffarnagar while addressing election rallies in Churu and Kherli (Alwar) in Rajasthan on October 23.

The BJP also demanded an apology from the Gandhi scion for stating that the Pakistani intelligence had contacted Muslim youths affected by the Muzaffarnagar communal violence.

Mr Gandhi made the claim at an election rally in Indore on Thursday.

The riots in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district and adjoining areas in September left 62 people dead and 43,000 homeless.
