Blank firing inside temple in West Bengal

Burdwan: Two youngsters on Saturday fired in the air at a temple in Burdwan district's Katwa triggering panic in the compound.

Two motor cycle-borne youngsters arrived at the famous Kali temple compound in the area, went inside and fired two rounds in the air before rushing out and leaving the area in the two wheeler, SP Kunal Agarwal said.

The three-four temple priests and their assistants were in the adjacent sanctum, he said.

The police were also probing whether report of dispute among Temple Managing Committee members had anything to do with the incident.

"We will be able to catch the culprits very soon from the accounts of the eye-witnesses in the temple neighbourhood," the SP said.
