HYDERABAD: The Net Impact Club at the Indian School of Business (ISB), recently organised a voluntary blood donation camp in collaboration with the Red Cross Society, Hyderabad. The event witnessed 206 volunteers, including students, staff, faculty, spouses and alumni, donating blood. Red Cross will use the collected blood for Thalassaemic children, who need regular blood transfusion. Dr Komal Jagdish, who supervised the camp, was extremely delighted with the turnout. There were quite a few volunteers donating blood for the first time. Saumya KS, a student of the post graduate programme at ISB, said “I was initially a bit skeptical about donating blood. But seeing the response of the students, I realised this is my best chance to start and made up my mind to donate. I feel really proud of myself and will be a regular blood donor.” This blood donation camp was Net Impact Club’s first initiative on campus for the year 2011. Apart from organising community events, the Club also carries out programmes which include, inter alia, ISB Global Pro-bono Consulting (student teams advising NGOs on a particular project), Board Fellow Programme (ISB Students being a part of the advisory board of non-profits and are responsible for implementing at least one strategic plan for the organisation), among others.
