Dev D, Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye and Chal Chala Chal, were the three releases last week. While CCC and MKMJA crashed miserably, Dev D to some extent managed to hit the spot.
BO Collections
Dev D, Anurag Kashyap's modern day adaptation of Saratchandra's famous novel opened with 25-30 per cent collections for the first show. It saw poor collections at single screens. Word of mouth saw a rise in collections in select multiplexes of Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad. The day ended with around Rs 1.5 crore net collections.
The weekend collections were good in many multiplexes across different cities. The first three days' net collections for Dev D was approximately Rs 5.50 crore. Trade sources are forecasting around Rs 8 crore net collections for the first week, which is definitely good for a medium-budgeted film.
The opening weekend collections in major multiplexes across the country were – Cinemax 55-60 per cent, PVR 60-65 per cent, Fame 60-70 per cent, Fun Cinemas 60 per cent and BIG Cinemas 55-60 per cent.
While Chal Chala Chal didn't get a wide multiplex release, it got big thumbs down from the mass centers. The film opened to a very poor 10-15 per cent collections and the weekend didn't see any chnage.
The third release of the week, PVR Pictures' production Mere Khawabon Mein Jo Aaye too had a dull opening in the range of 5-10 per cent on day-one and managed a 5 per cent rise in its collections for the weekend.
