BANGALORE: Bowing to pressure from farmers and seers, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has declared that the Posco steel will not come up in Mundargi taluk of Gadag district if the farmers refuse to give their land voluntarily. Chief Minister Yeddyurappa has issued instructions to the Gadag DC to immediately stop all proceedings pertaining to the acquisition of land. “There is no question of acquiring land forcibly. If the farmers are willing to give their land voluntarily, Posco will set up the plant. If not, the project will be shifted to some other district where the farmers come forward to give their land,” Yeddyurappa said in a statement released here on Wednesday, after returning from his trip to the national capital.
