BANGALORE: Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa sprang a surprise by attending the BJP’s preparatory meeting for the polls to Graduates and the Teachers’ Constituencies. Also, he said that he would actively campaign during the polls. The sudden change of decision, though, is not without reason. Sources said that after being snubbed by BJP national leaders to his threats to stay away from national executive meet, he is said to have decided to fall in line after failing to demand CM D V Sadananda Gowda’s ouster. The former CM has called a meeting of his supporters on May 29 to decide future course of his action.Meanwhile, the BJP expressed confidence at sweeping the polls to Legislative Council from Graduates’ and Teachers’ Constituencies. The party constituted four publicity teams headed by Gowda, party state president K S Eshwarappa, RDPR Minister Jagadish Shettar and Home Minister R Ashok. The electoral processes for the state BJP’s institutions would begin in June, said state party general secretary C T Ravi. As per amendment to party’s Constitution at the national meet in Mumbai, the state president can run for a second consecutive term. The state BJP would completely support the Bharath Bandh called by NDA to protest the steep petrol hike.
