TIRUCHY: The mega-size cutouts, glittering lights and decorative lamps were all missing. Instead, shouts of joy and enthusiasm greeted Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa as she toured Srirangam to thank voters. Jayalalithaa, who came to Tiruchy on a three-day visit, started off from Kambarasampettai in the outskirts of the city. “I thank you for making me win by a huge margin and electing me as the CM for the third time,” she said, amid a thunderous applause. “In the first phase, I have laid foundation stones for schemes worth `190 crore which would be completed as early as possible,” she said. “This apart, all the promises which I gave during the election campaign will be fulfilled step by step,” she assured the voters.People gathered in large numbers to have a glimpse of Jayalalithaa. The party cadre had arranged for the traditional Kerala Chendai Melam to welcome her in most of the places. In other places, they had arranged for karakattam and light music programmes. She had launched various schemes to the tune of `90 crore exclusively for her Srirangam constituency.On day two, she covered Mutharasanallur, Allur, Jeeyapuram, Tirupaithurai, Perugumani, Kavalkaranpalayam, Pettaivaithalai, Jeeyapuram, Periyakaruppur, Kuzhumani, Koppu, Ettarai, Vayalur road and Somarasampettai.
