HYDERABAD: The aim of public relations is to reduce, as much as possible, the gap between perceptions and facts, B Venkatesham, commissioner of information and public relations said.Speaking at a function organised by the Public Relations Society of India here on Saturday on the occasion of National Public Relations Education Day, he described a PR officer as the face of an organisation. “In this age of rampant miscommunication and disinformation, PR professionals have a vital role to play,” he said and called for introduction of more professional PR courses. AP State Council for Higher Education chairman P. Jayaprakash Rao said “The success of individuals and nations today depends upon their PR capabilities. The two aspects determining  PR capabilities of any individual are excellent communication skills and a sound analytical brain that helps in handling crises. While there is massive expansion of institutes, there has been no check on quality of education.’’
