Speaking at an orientation programme organised by the Tamil Nadu Social Welfare Board for the functionaries and counsellors of the Short stay Homes and Family counselling centres, Cariappa  pointed out that the sex ratio in the country, even after a decade long of work, has increased by only four percent from the last census. “Now, the national sex ratio statistics is 914 women for 1,000 men .
