THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thiruvananthapuram CBI Special court on Thursday came down harshly on the CBI for failing to produce the case diary of Kiliroor rape case on Thursday, the deadline set by the court to produce the diary. The court, hearing on a petition filed by advocate Neyyatinkara Nagaraj seeking reinvestigation into the case, had earlir ordered the CBI to produce the case diary. However, the CBI sought time but failed to produce the case diary on Thursday. Following this, special judge T S P Moosath ordered the CBI to produce the case diary on November 28. The court also ordered the police to produce on November 28 the case diary of the Kumarakom police, who conducted the probe in the initial stages and the copy of handwritten complaint filed by Surendran, Shari’s father, before the Superintendent of Police, Kottayam district. Earlier, while presenting his contentions, the petitioner produced a copy of a letter sent by IG Sreelekha to Chief Secretary in 2004, in which she said that she was under tremendous pressure as her higher-ups wanted to influence her in the probe. The petitioner contended that the a probe should also be conducted to find out the higher officials referred by Sreelekha in her letter. The CBI court is also hearing another petition, filed by Shari’s parents seeking a reinvestigation. Meanwhile, the trial that is ongoing will resume on December 12, after a break since the CBI prosecutor has gone on leave for personal reasons.
