Gurgaon: The CBI has taken over the murder case of Geetanjali Garg, wife of Gurgaon Chief Judicial Magistrate Ravneet Garg. Garg had earlier been questioned in connection with the murder of his wife.
Relatives of Geetanjali Garghad had on Sunday held a protest blocking the NH-8 demanding Ravneet Garg's suspension and arrest along with that of his relatives. Family members of Geetanjali had earlier started a campaign to garner public support for speedy investigation of the high profile case following which around 500 people including women and children from Ambala and Panchkula gathered for the protest.
The protesters had held an agitation outside the official residence of the Chief Judicial Magistrate as well as outside the residence of the Sessions Judge. They carried placards sloganeering against the district administration and Gurgaon Police chief Alok Mittal. The protesters later moved on to block the NH-8 near Rajiv Chowk to organise a candle light march.
Om Prakash Agarwal, father of Geetanjali had presented a memorandum to the DCP demanding immediate arrest of the CJM before lifting the protest on Sunday evening. Haryana police had recommended the case to the CBI.
