New Delhi: Girls once again outshone boys in class X CBSE results announced on Thursday, which recorded a pass percentage of 98.19.
The overall pass figure is about two per cent higher than last last year's results.
The pass percentage of girls stood at 98.48 per cent as compared to 97.98 per cent in case of boys.
According to a CBSE statement, the pass percentage in Chennai region at 99.45 was the highest in the country. The results in that region was declared on May 21.
In total, 11,79,182 candidates were registered for class X examination this year, an increase of about 11 per cent over last year.
Since last year, CBSE class X examination is being conducted under the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE)scheme and the results are reflected in grades.
The class XII results are also expected to be declared this week.
For the first time, photocopy of the evaluated answer books will be provided to candidates who request for the same in keeping with the Supreme Court decision on August 9 last year, the CBSE statement said.
Applications for the same will be accepted by the Board from 31st day of the declaration of the result, the statement added.
This year, approximately 60 per cent appeared for the school-based examination while 40 per cent appeared for the Board-based examinations.
According to the statement, students who have obtained grade at rock bottom at E1 and E2 will be eligible to appear at the first chance of 'Improvement of Performance (IOP)' as per the option made for the main exam held in March this year whether school-based or board-based.
The Board-based first chance IOP test will commence from July 16, 2012, the statement said, adding school-based IOP will be held by July and conducted by the schools.
Besides, he also quoted CBI's arguments that walls of Talwar's flat were washed soon after the killing, statements of a prosecution witness which said there was no grief on the faces of parents and their clothes were fresh and wrinkle free when he visited on May 16, the day Aarushi's body was found.
In its order, the court also mentioned CBI's claims that the wounds on the neck of Hemraj and Aarushi were caused by surgical equipment which could have been a work of trained professional like Rajesh and Nupur.
The defence had rejected the theory saying these wounds could have been caused by a sharp weapon like 'Khukri' which was common among Nepali citizens.
Aarushi was found dead in her bedroom at Talwar's Jalvayu Vihar residence in Noida on May 16, 2008. Next day body of domestic help Hemraj, who was initially suspected of killing her, was also found on the terrace of their flat.
