CHENNAI: The Centre is expecting Rs 25 lakh crore private investment in the infrastructure sector during the 12th five-year plan, according to Union Shipping Minister G K Vasan.During the 12th plan period, infrastructure investment is expected to rise to Rs 50 lakh crore and the Centre is hoping to mop up 50 pc of it from the private sector, Vasan said here on Saturday.AddQDQDressing the conference ‘Thriving in an Imbalanced World’ organized by CII, Vasan said the strategy is to increase investment in infrastructure through a combination of public investment and public- private partnerships. As many as 17 rail connectivity projects to ports have been sanctioned in the rail budget and, if executed, these projects could give a fillip to the country’s current growth rate, he added.
