On the second day of Chhath, i.e., Kharna, devotees keep a fast from morning to night, following which they have rasiya kheer and roti at night.

It is after the ritual that devotees begin their 36-hour fast all through the third day, which finally ends in the early hours of the fourth day. During this time, the Sandhya Arghya (evening offerings) and Usha Arghya (morning offerings) are among the most important rituals.
