Opposition Congress in Madhya Pradesh on Friday said CLP deputy leader Choudhary Rakesh Singh Chaturvedi, who defected to the ruling BJP, has "back stabbed" the party.
"If this man (Chaturvedi) can betray Congress, it remains to be seen how long he will remain with BJP I feel he has stabbed the entire Congress party in its back it is now for BJP to worry as the party has in its ranks a person, who betrayed the Congress," Leader of the Opposition in MP Assembly Ajay Singh said.
However, Chaturvedi's joining BJP would not pose a threat to Congress ahead of the assembly polls, due later this year, he said.
Chaturvedi, who was with Congress for the past 24 years, left the party and joined BJP yesterday after expressing his opposition to a Congress-sponsored no-confidence motion in the Assembly and criticising AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh over a tweet referring to former BJP minister Raghavji, arrested on sodomy charges.
