About 82 students from various districts including Thoothukudi, Cuddalore, Salem, Dharmapuri and Perambalur, participated in a State-level chess competition for the visually-challenged organised by Nethrodaya, a self-help organisation in the city.

While Thirunavukarasu from Tiruvallur district won the first prize, Suraj, a third year student of BA History won the second prize, while Raghupathy, all of 15 years old, won the third prize.

Krishnan Sasikaran, Grandmaster who is ranked third in Asia, gave away the first prize.
