The MCOCA court convicted an aide of Chhota Shakeel and three others for abetting organised crime.

New Delhi: The Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court on Friday convicted an aide of gangster Chhota Shakeel and three others for abetting organised crime and sentenced them to five years rigorous imprisonment.

The special court also slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 each on Shakeel's aide Rubina Sayed, Sirajuddin Sayed, Uday Baburao Pawar and Amin Iliyas Mansur aka Anthony.

The case made the headlines in 2004 when Rubina, an alleged conduit for distributing D-Company money in Mumbai, and Anthony were arrested.

Anthony allegedly provided hawala money to Rubina and Siraj and they further distributed it to families of undertrials and to pay their attorney fees.

The organised crime syndicate of the D-company was busted when the police lay a trap at Minerva Talkies on Lamington Road on April 17, 2003, and arrested Uday Pawar while accepting the extortion money. As the investigations proceeded, Pawar led the police to Anthony, Rubina.
