London: Li Xueying won China's second weightlifting gold medal of the London Olympics, leading the way in both the snatch and the clean and jerk on Monday in the women's 58-kilogram category.

The 22-year-old Li set Olympic records in the snatch and total weight but missed a world record attempt in her final clean and jerk. She lifted 108 kilograms in the snatch and 138 kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 246 kg.

Li loaded 144 kilograms on the bar for her final lift, trying to set world records in both clean and jerk and total weight, but it was too much.

Pimsiri Sirikaew of Thailand got the silver medal and Yulia Kalina of Ukraine took bronze. World champion Nastassia Novikava of Belarus ended up in seventh place.

China is now back on track in the weightlifting competition after failing to reach the top of the podium in two events on Sunday. On Saturday, Wang Mingjuan won China's first gold in the women's 48-kilogram class.
