KOCHI: The Indian Coast Guard organised a free medical camp on Sunday at its district headquarters at Fort Kochi through the initiative of the Kochi group of Coast Guard Wives Welfare Association. The medical camp was led by an expert team from the Kerala Institute of Medical Science. The team comprised cardiologist Dr Winston Dias, orthopaedic surgeon Dr Jerin Joy, general physician Dr Abdul Salam, dietician Dr Pinky and business development manager Prateesh Pillai.Over 200 participants attended the camp, which was inaugurated by CGWWA Kochi president Jaya Chandran, wife of DIG T K S Chandran, Commander Coast Guard (Kerala and Mahe).A detailed check-up, including blood sugar/pressure, ECG, expert opinion on bone health and advice on diet were part of the camp. A video on better upkeep of health and necessary medicines was also screened. The representatives of Police, Customs, Department of Revenue and Transport took part in the initiative.
