College student crushed to death

The mishap  sparked off protests and brought traffic on the busy NH-5 to a halt for several hours.The victim, Ahalya Sethi, a student of the Laxmi Narayan Sahoo College at Jagatpur, was on her way home at Trilochanpur on a bicycle along with a friend, Rashmita Mallik, when the duo was hit by a speeding bus.Police said, Ahalya was caught under the front wheels of the bus while Rashmita was thrown off to a distance. The seriously injured Rashmita has been shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital here.The incident sparked protests, with students of the college and locals staging a demonstration demanding adequate compensation for the bereaved family.
