THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan on Tuesday alleged that a precarious situation has developed in the state where casteist and communal forces are gaining ground to defeat the progressive nature of the state. Inaugurating the 39th annual conference of Kerala Secretariat Employees Association, he said that the situation has emerged in which ministerial berths are being decided on the basis of caste and religion.“The UDF Government has been trying to disrupt the civil service by creating a semi-fascist state. The government is pushing back the state to the regressive situation of the Liberation Struggle era and thereby undoing all the developments Kerala had achieved’’ he said. Reception committee chairman A Sampath MP delivered the welcome address. KSEA president S Radhakrishnan presided over the function. CPM district secretary Kadakampally Surendran, Deshabhimani manager K Varadarajan and leaders of various employees unions also spoke. Earlier, KSEA activists took out a procession in the city in connection with the conference.
